Teacher – Cognitive Impaired

$5,000 signing bonus and $5,000 toward student loans

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The teacher is responsible for specific and general classroom instruction of the students and for directing and supervising aides.  Reports to the Building Administrators.  Must be able to lift, move students and equipment. Must be physically and emotionally able to effectively manage aggressive and maladaptive behaviors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan and conduct activities for students in the classroom.
  2. Organize and plan activities for classroom support staff. Ability to provide leadership by directing and monitoring teacher aides in the classroom, school buildings and in the community.
  3. Willingness to participate in all phases of the instructional program, including toilet training, brief changing, and clean up.
  4. Prepare, present and maintain assessment evaluation on the progress of students.
  5. Write and implement specific behavioral and educational objectives on all students.
  6. Participate in the IEPT and TEAM meetings when appropriate.
  7. Be able to relate community activities, curricular goals and programming to the Building Administrators, other teachers, ancillary staff, aides and parents.
  8. Maintain cooperative relationships with all ancillary staff.
  9. Understand and utilize learning theory and applied behavioral analysis in the management and instruction of the students.
  10. Establish instructional and behavioral objectives for students.
  11. Ability to respond to respond appropriately to challenging behaviors.
  12. Prepare and write a scheduled student progress report for each student.
  13. Integrate students into community settings.

RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meet all required goals as they relate to students' success and growth.
  2. Ensure the safety of all students while providing instruction and guidance.
  3. Maintain proper care and general maintenance of the classroom.
  4. Maintain proper supervision of all equipment and material in the classroom.
  5. Assist in screening, evaluating and securing appropriate supplies, materials, and equipment in the classroom.
  6. Attend conferences and workshops to promote personal growth and professional knowledge.
  7. Participate in scheduled field trips, staff meetings and in-service training programs.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work Schedule:       Balanced Calendar Schedule

Salary Range:         Negotiated IEA bargaining agreement salary schedule

Fringes:                 In accordance with negotiated IEA bargaining agreement

                             $5000 signing bonus

Work Day:              Standard instructional staff hours: 8 am – 3:20 pm
